Nouar Tabet was born on November 1, 1953, in a small village between the mountains of El Anasser in the wilaya of Jijel (Eastern Algeria). Coming from a modest family of 8 children, he moved at a young age with his family to Mila.
After completing his secondary education at Hihi El Mekki High School in Constantine (1970-1973), he enrolled at the University of Constantine where he obtained a higher education diploma in condensed matter physics in 1977. During his final year, he worked as a technical collaborator in the physics department while teaching at the high school that had trained him.
Thanks to his excellent results, he was awarded a scholarship in 1977 to attend the University of Orsay (Paris 11) in France. There, he earned an Advanced Studies Diploma (DEA), ranking first in his class, which enabled him to receive a French scholarship to pursue his third-cycle doctorate. In 1980, after two years at the CNRS Materials Physics Laboratory in Paris, he obtained his doctorate but declined the offer to continue with a State doctorate in order to return to Algeria.
In 1984, he returned to Paris to prepare his State doctorate, which he obtained in 1988 with remarkable work on the electrical properties of semiconductor materials used in the fabrication of solar cells, thus demonstrating his expertise in a forward-looking field.
Scientific Career
In 1981, Nouar Tabet began his academic career at the University of Constantine where he directed the first research laboratory in condensed matter physics, laying the foundations for quality scientific research in his country of origin. He also held the strategic position of director of external relations for the university, contributing to its international influence.
After obtaining his State doctorate in 1988, he refused several job offers in France, preferring to put his skills at the service of his country's scientific development.
