Origins & Education
Originally from Tlemcen, Mohamed Boudjelal pursued an international academic path of excellence that reflects his global vision of scientific research. He began his higher education by obtaining a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of Es-Senia in Oran (Algeria), thus establishing solid foundations for his scientific training.
Continuing his international education, he obtained a doctorate in biochemistry and molecular biology from the prestigious University of Leeds (United Kingdom), one of the most renowned British institutions in the field of life sciences. This doctoral training allowed him to acquire in-depth expertise in fundamental molecular mechanisms.
Completing his education with a multidisciplinary approach, he also obtained a diploma in international business and vocal training from the University of California at San Diego (United States), demonstrating his desire to combine scientific excellence with international management and communication skills.

With over 20 years of experience in drug discovery, medical research, and scientific management, Dr. Mohamed Boudjelal currently holds strategic positions at the King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) in Riyadh. He serves as President of Medical Research Infrastructure and Director of the Drug Discovery Program, overseeing the translational research activities of this internationally renowned institution.
In his current functions, he also leads cutting-edge technological research platforms and supervises the Saudi Biobank, a national strategic resource for personalized medical research and precision medicine in the Middle East region.
