Origins & Education

Anouar Benmalek was born on January 16, 1956, in Casablanca, Morocco, to a Moroccan mother and an Algerian father. This dual Maghrebi origin forged from childhood his sensitivity to identity issues and cross-border problems that would profoundly mark his future literary work.

🎓 Initial Scientific Training
He undertook his higher education in mathematics at the University of Constantine, Algeria. This rigorous scientific training developed in him an analytical mind and a method of thinking that would be reflected in the architecture of his novels and the precision of his literary style.
🎓 International Doctoral Development
He continued his academic training by defending a State Doctorate in probability and statistics in Kiev, Ukraine (then USSR). This international experience broadened his worldview and enriched his understanding of political and social systems, elements that would later nourish his literary reflection.
📚 Academic Career in Algeria
He became a University Professor at the University of Science and Technology Houari-Boumediene in Bab Ezzouar, near Algiers. This position allowed him to combine scientific expertise with privileged observation of contemporary Algerian society.
🇫🇷 Academic Continuation in France
Today, he is an associate professor teaching at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Paris-Saclay, where he continues to exercise his mathematical skills while developing his literary work.
