Origins & Education

Born in 1961 in Algiers, Algeria. Graduated from El Mokrani High School and earned an Engineer degree from Ecole Nationale Polytechnique, Algiers in 1984. He then received his M.S. (1987) and Ph.D. (1990) in electrical engineering from Syracuse University, NY.

Scientific Career

From 1990 to 1991, Assistant Professor at Syracuse University. Worked in radar technology in private sector until 1999. Then Senior Research Engineer at AFRL (1999–2006). Chief Research Officer at Signal Labs Inc. (2006–2008). Technical Advisor at AFRL (2008–2018). Since 2019, he has been a Division Research Fellow in the RF Technology Branch. He authored over 280 peer-reviewed publications and serves on major international panels including NATO and TTCP.

Distinctions & Recognition

Fellow of the IEEE (since 2007), Fellow of AFRL (since 2013), President-Elect of IEEE AESS. Recipient of the 2001 IEEE Region I Award and 2012 IEEE Warren White Award.

Impact & Influence

World-renowned radar expert with key contributions to adaptive signal processing, distributed MIMO radar, over-the-horizon radar, and passive systems. Influential across military research and academic communities globally.
