Origins & Education

Born in 1961 in Constantine, Algeria, Rachid Benlamri completed his secondary education at Hihi El-Mekki High School before pursuing higher education at the University of Constantine. He later completed his studies in the United Kingdom, where he obtained both his Master's degree and PhD from the University of Manchester, specializing in artificial intelligence and knowledge engineering.

Scientific Career

Professor Rachid Benlamri currently holds the position of Vice President Academic at the University of Doha for Science and Technology in Qatar. Prior to this appointment, he served as a Professor of Software Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering at Lakehead University in Canada, where he also headed the Semantic Web and Mobile Computing Lab.

His main research areas include:

Throughout his academic career, Professor Benlamri has supervised over 70 students and postdoctoral fellows, significantly contributing to the development of the next generation of researchers in computer science and artificial intelligence.

With over 160 scientific publications to his credit, Professor Benlamri has gained international recognition in his fields of expertise. He has regularly been invited as a keynote speaker at prestigious international conferences.

He has also taken on important responsibilities in organizing international conferences, notably as:
